The 9th Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment (3 months) was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army between April 26, 1861–July 26, 1861, during the American Civil War. == Service == The infantry regiment was organized at Springfield, Illinois and mustered in by Captain John Pope, United States Army, on April 26th, 1861 for a three-month service. The regiment was moved to Cairo, Illinois for garrison duty until July, 1861. It was then attached to Prentiss' Brigade. Companies "C" and "H" formed part of an expedition from Cairo to Little River on June 22nd and 23rd. By the time the regiment was mustered out on July 26th, 1861, they had lost nine to disease.〔Dyer (1959), Volume 3 p. 1,047.〕
